Iran to export 50 light planes to Australia

TEHRAN, April 27 (MNA) – Hamid Sabbaghi, the managing director of Iran’s Aviation Industries Company said on Wednesday that Iran would export 50 two-seat Ava-202 light planes to Australia since early October 2005.

“Two -seat Ava-202 light plane has been made by the Iranian experts”, he said, adding, “Based on a contract signed between Iran’s Aviation Industries Company and an Australian company, 50 planes will be handed over to the foreign company in a five-year period (since early 2005).”

The managing director explained that the company launched conducting studies on construction of the plane in 1995, and it strived to receive the flight permissions from the State Aviation Organization in 1999.

He added that the company achieved supplying the product at the international markets in 2003.

He went on to say that one of the Ava-202 airplanes is presently carrying out flights in Australia, further noting that in light of the current production capacity as well as the great number of the light planes required by the Australian company, they do not have any specific plan for the domestic purchase of the product.

Sabbaghi put the value of a two-seat Ava-202 airplane at nearly 113,000 dollars.
